The Committees

Committees are in charge of discussing the policies and projects under their supervision, honing specific proposals to go in front of the Board of Directors, and implementing projects guided by the management plan. The chair of each committee must be a member of the Board of Directors, but all other committee members may be members of the public (except the Executive Committee). All committees are open to the public.

Executive Committee

Comprised of Board Officers: the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Chaired by the President.

The executive committee oversees central operations of the organization and ensures the smooth functioning of the following key areas:

  • Staff and contracts
  • Corporate finances
  • Insurance
  • Grants
  • Development of budget
  • Board agendas and meetings
  • Correspondence
  • Outreach
  • Bylaws and policies
  • Public relations
  • Newsletters

Public Rights of Way (PROW) Committee

The PROW Committee is in charge of overseeing the service contract that provides services in public spaces (the ‘public right of way’) and ensuring the success and efficiency of these services, along with other services designed to promote safety in the neighborhood. These services include the following ongoing programs:

  • Sidewalk sweeping and cleaning
  • Steam Cleaning
  • Relations with the Department of Public Works (DPW)
  • Tree planting and maintenance
  • Improving public right of way experience
  • Safety programs including Safe Passage and Safe Havens

District Identity and Streetscape Improvements (DISI) Committee

The DISI committee oversees programs that promote Tenderloin district identity and provide beautification through visual media such as art and murals. These services include the following projects and events:

  • Special events
  • Marketing and promotion of the district and organization
  • Banners and murals
  • Streetscape improvements
    • Landscape design
    • Bus shelters
    • Public space projects

Current projects include:

  • Annual holiday street festival
  • Tenderloin Health and Safety Resource Fair
  • Neighborhood concerts
  • Theaters performances

Community Advisory Board Committee

The Community Advisory Board Committee works to address the needs and concerns of Tenderloin residents and engages in outreach activities to form partnerships among local community organizations. Current projects include community benefit agreement negotiations, land use planning and land use discussions.
