On 25 July 2008, the State Historical Resources Commission voted unanimously to create the Uptown Tenderloin Historic District, with Federal approval and the district's addition to the National Register of Historic Places likely to follow in as little as 45 days. The survey was researched by noted architectural historian, Michael Corbett and photographed by CBD board member Mark Ellinger. The entire community was pulled together by this effort, which holds such promise for making the Tenderloin a better place for all. Survey photos can be seen here and at Mark's website.
16 October 2008, ABC7 News ran this video about our neighborhood's new status as the Uptown Tenderloin Historic District that featured interviews with Randy Shaw, NOM/TL CBC director Elaine Zamora and architectural historian Michael Corbett.
A link to the contributing properties will be posted here soon.
